Waternook, nestled at the foot of Hallin Fell, overlooking lake Ullswater is the perfect, private, location for your special day. With over 26-acres of private estate and half a mile of lake frontage for you to enjoy Waternook truly offers unrivalled views of the lake and mountains. Can you think of a more perfect location for special day? The Lake District was been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site on Sunday 9 July 2017. It now joins other wonders of the world like the Taj Mahal, The Great Wall of China and Machu Picchu with the status.
Exclusivity of The Waternook Estate [Waternook and The Great Barn] must be taken for a minimum of 3 nights in low season and a week in peak season giving your party full access to Waternook's Spa and Wellness Sanctuary ensuring you look your best for your special day and the wedding photographs you will be looking back on for years to come.
Ceremonies can take place at one of two delightful little churches nestled in the Martindale Valley: St. Peter’s or St. Martin’s. St.Peter's dates back to the 16th Century where St. Martin's dates back to the 13th Century. Both churches are only a short walk away from Waternook's front door, just exit the fell gate onto Hallin and walk up the undulating path. St. Martin's church has an old yew tree in its grounds that dates back some 1,300 years. The first reference to a church being made was in 1220. If you prefer a Civil Ceremony further information on Civil Partnership Registrations in The Lake District can be found here.
Waternook was won numerous awards but in Summer 2016 was awarded the LUX Venue Award of "Best for Weddings - The Lake District".
Please note we specialise solely in inimate, exclusive weddings so we restrict the number of weddings we accept each year and total numbers should not exceed 20.
